This will most likely be the last time I mention anything about the battle to save RG in this flyer. However I would be wrong if I didn't mention to each and every one of you what a tremendous job you did in the fight. We lost to a large corporation, a Mayor and city council doing business as usual, and a million dollars. However, we are not losers. We took the battle from a situation of "it's a done deal" two years ago and caused the FAA, the Kansas City Southern Railroad, and the so called city government to work hard, spend a lot of money and prove the caliber of people running city hall. Again, thanks to all of you who helped. I want to also talk just a little about our flyout program. As you know, we have a new flyout chairman, Bob Williams. Bob is trying his best to come up with some fun things to do and places to go. He needs your input in this as well as your support at the flyout. We all realize that it's not always possible to make a flyout because of conflicting schedules or work. However, I urge you to do your best. He would also like to do some on Saturdays and different times of the month. Any suggestions just let Bob know. We've got some fun things coming up. Expo 99 Aug. 14-15 and there will be events most of that week at downtown airport. Plan to attend if you can. This years aircraft will be from the Korean War era. Also don't forget the USPA convention the 14-17 of October. That will be the MPA flyout. We will fly to Harrison, Ark. and motor to Branson in rental cars. Sounds like fun and AOPA President Phil Boyer will be the speaker at the Sat. Banquet. Hope to see you at both places. Herb

|In 1996 there were 1,907 General Aviation (GA) accidents. Of all these accidents, only 2 involved pilots who had participated in the WINGS program during the previous 12 months! Each accident had an average cost of $30,000 dollars. Just looking at this information, isn't it worth the 3 flying hours and a safety meeting to avoid a costly accident? Participate in the WINGS program. It's better than a BFR|
