MPA Eternal - We are sad to report the passing of one of our members, Tony
Whitmer. Tony and his wife were killed in an airplane accident near St. Louis when he had equipment failure. Our
thoughts and prayers are with Tony and Diane's family.
Happy New Year. Made any resolutions yet? I don't believe in them. However it
might not be a bad time to look where we as a chapter are and where we want to go this year. I guess for the shape
we're in, we're in pretty good shape. That's not to say that we can't improve. Here are a few things I believe
we can and need to do for the betterment of the chapter. I guess that number one on the list is retention of members
followed closely by bringing in new members. I believe retention is the most important because we need a good,
strong core body to build on when we recruit new members. So let's don't let our current members leave while dwelling
on efforts to recruit new members. We need to get everyone involved. This organization is for the benefit of all
it's members, and each and every one should have an input and be fully involved. So I would ask that in the coming
year, if you see anything that you think could be done to improve our chapter, get involved, make it happen. A
new board of directors will be needed before long. It's not to early to start thinking of good people to serve.
Possibly you have that special talent that we need. The fly out program is a lot of fun and we can always use a
few more to fill the dinner table. Usually there are empty seats if you don't have an airplane to fly. Your fly
out chairman is always looking for new and different places to go. If you have an idea, let him know. Finally, this
is the year we need to complete our chapter logo. Al St Germain is working on it and I think that after three years,
we will get it done this year. When the patch is ready, buy one or two and wear them proudly. They will identify
us as the Kansas City Chapter and let us stand out from the other chapters. Let's all have the best year ever,
have a lot of fun,. and enjoy every occasions we get to be together. Again. HAPPY NEW YEAR Herb
Holiday Parties - MPA members of the Kansas City Chapter enjoyed two soirees in December, one at Stephenson's and one at Paul and Judy Broome's cozy home. We were delighted to see Theda, Virginia, and Ramona who have been valiantly fighting illnesses. It was a full house as usual, same venue and same menu as last year. Can't ever go wrong with that. It was a delightful get-together and we appreciate Terry and company setting it up. At the Broome's, we chatted around the goodie table and in front of the sparkling fireplace reminiscing over 1999 and contemplating what 2000 might bring. Saw pictures of Mac and Sarah's new Cardinal, and rang in the New Year, New Decade, New Century and arguably, the New Millennium. Thanks, Paul and Judy, for your cheery hospitality and for inviting us to your lovely home. Al St. Germain

are not as complete as we would like, and we are not sure about presidents who served prior to 1984. If you can
help us to assemble a complete list of past presidents, please contact board member Gary Fox @ 525-3592 (email@example.com)
We are also trying to assemble a complete history of club newsletters and other historic documents. If you have old club papers and would be willing to part with them permanently (or just long enough to let us copy them) please contact chapter secretary June Williams @ 224-3241 (firstname.lastname@example.org)

|In 1996 there were 1,907 General Aviation (GA) accidents. Of all these accidents, only 2 involved pilots who had participated in the WINGS program during the previous 12 months! Each accident had an average cost of $30,000 dollars. Just looking at this information, isn't it worth the 3 flying hours and a safety meeting to avoid a costly accident? Participate in the WINGS program. It's better than a BFR|
